William O'Riordan, M.D.

Chief Medical Officer, Medical Division

Dr. William O’Riordan, Chairman of the Board and Chief Medical Officer, founded eStudySite in 1999 along with twelve healthcare providers with whom he’d performed research for over ten years. Dr. O’Riordan has been involved in emergency medicine for more than thirty years at St. Francis Medical Center, Paradise Valley Hospital and Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. His academic appointments include Harbor General Hospital–UCLA Medical Center and UCSD. His nineteen years of clinical investigation has been performed at Paradise Valley Hospital and Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center. As Principal Investigator, he has directed over 70 studies including cSSSI, Stroke, Acute Myocardial Infarction, Unstable Angina, Sepsis, Septic Shock, Hospital & Community Acquired Pneumonia, Hepatitis C, Atrial Fibrillation, Congestive Heart Failure, Hyponatremia, Complicated Appendicitis, UTI/Pyleonephritis, Occluded Central Venous Access Devices, genomic studies and more. He has served as Chief of Staff at Paradise Valley Hospital and President of the American College of Emergency Physicians in California. Dr. O’Riordan has also served on numerous advisory adjudication committees including AstraZeneca, Basilea Pharmaceutica, Aventis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Hoechst Marion Roussel among others. He is an examiner for the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. O’Riordan earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical School and is licensed in Kansas and California.

Joseph Panetta

Joseph Panetta has been a prominent force behind San Diego’s biotechnology sector as the first president and CEO of BIOCOM, which he transformed into the largest and most influential life science association in the U.S. Mr. Panetta has held executive management positions with The Dow Chemical Company, Mycogen Corporation, and Elf Atochem North America. He serves on a number of committees, boards, and business coalitions addressing legislation, workforce, and economic development in San Diego relative to biotechnology. He is currently on the boards of directors of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, San Diego World Trade Center, San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, the San Diego Workforce Partnership; CONNECT; and Gene Therapy Systems, Inc. He serves as Advisory Council Member for several universities and was appointed by the city’s former mayor to be Commissioner of the City of San Diego Public Utilities Advisory Commission. Mr. Panetta holds a Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health, and a BS in Pre-Medicine/Biology from LeMoyne College.

 

Kenneth Widder, M.D.

Dr. Kenneth Widder is Chairman and CEO of Sytera, a biopharmaceutical company developing new treatments for dry, age-related macular degeneration. As a former managing member of Windamere Capital Ventures, LP, which he helped form in 1998, he was instrumental in providing seed capital and executive management to biotech companies, including Santarus, Inc., Converge Medical, Inc., and NovaCardia, Inc. Dr. Widder also founded Molecular Biosystems, a company that develops contrast agents for clarifying ultrasound images. Dr. Widder has served on a number of boards, foundations and committees including the Mayor’s Business and Economic Development Council; the Governor’s Council on Biotechnology; and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for former San Diego mayor Susan Golding. He has also held appointments as Commissioner of the Southwestern Low-level Radioactive Waste Commission, Chairman of the board of the San Diego Regional Technology Alliance and served as former President of BIOCOM. Dr. Widder s widely published in medical journals and has 32 medical patents. He earned is medical degree from Northwestern University in 1979.

 

Allen Chi

Allen Chi, Principal, Celerity Partners, Menlo Park was formerly Vice President at Merisel, Inc. where he led several transactions in software and business services industries. Prior to joining Merisel in 2001, Mr. Chi was with Omnicom Group, a Fortune 500 company, where he was involved with various M&A and venture capital investments. He was also a strategic consultant at Bain & Company and L.E.K. Consulting, where he advised numerous private equity companies on new investments and improving portfolio company performance. Mr. Chi is a graduate of Stanford University.

 

Stephen E. Adamson

Stephen E. Adamson is the Managing Partner of Celerity Partners' Los Angeles office and has specialized in private equity since 1984. Prior to joining Celerity in 1995, Mr. Adamson took a lead role in 15 management buyouts totaling $3.6 billion in transaction value, working in New York at E.F. Hutton and Shearson Lehman Brothers, where he executed M&A transactions using the firm's capital. In 1988, Mr. Adamson moved to California and resumed his focus on middle market private equity investing, first with Integrated Resources and later with KD Equities. Mr. Adamson holds an A.B. with honors in Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business. He is a director of SMTC Corporation and several private companies.

 

Craig Jones

Chairman Of The Board

Craig Jones is the Managing Partner of Ticonderoga Capital. Mr. Jones co-founded Ticonderoga Capital in 1997 and has 22 years of venture capital experience focused on technology-enabled BPO services with a strong emphasis on healthcare business services. Over his extensive venture career, Mr. Jones has supervised over $500 million of venture capital investments. Mr. Jones was previously the Managing Partner of Dillon Read Venture Capital, a Partner with Advent International and an Associate with Centennial Ventures. Before commencing his career in venture capital, he was a management consultant with Bain & Company. Mr. Jones has been a director of over thirty five companies, including 14 that have completed successful initial public offerings and ten successful sales. He is a member of the Board of Directors of MarketTools, Medrium, ppoNEXT and Metal Supermarkets as well as an observer of the Board of HealthDataInsights. He was previously a member of the Board of Directors of the National Venture Capital Association. He earned a B.A. as the Outstanding Graduating Senior from California State University Sacramento and a J.D. Magna Cum Laude from Harvard Law School.
