This site conducts Phase I –IV Central Nervous System (CNS) trials.

 

eStudy Site’s CNS division operates out of Alvarado Hospital in Eastern San Diego County. Alvarado Hospital is located near San Diego State University, approximately 11 miles Northeast of Downtown San Diego. The hospital serves a population of more than 1.2 million with a range of programs including emergency medicine services, neuroscience, rehabilitation, and surgical services.CNS Studies

Site Description:

  • 4800 sq feet
  • 1 large ecg/exam room with 2 exam tables and privacy curtains
  • 3 patient interview offices
  • 2 physician offices
  • 2 monitoring suites with 2 data ports in each
  • Temperature controlled/locked drug room with limited access and a refrigerator
  • Large walk-through laboratory with 20below deep freeze/centrifuge/dry ice maker/patient bathroom w/specimen “pass thru”
  • Site owned ECG machine/digital scale/digital vital signs machine/centrifuge
  • Large “library” designated for CRF and Source Document storage
  • Designated Conference room for private meetings
  • Secure E-mail link with Sponsors
  • Site provided food at deli on first floor
  • Pharmacy located on first floor
  • Walking distance to trolley and emergency equipped hospital (Alvarado Hospital)
  • Less than one mile away from Inpatient Behavioral health facility for inpatient trials (Alvarado Parkway Institute)

 

Staff Description:

  • 2 full-time CRC/CCRCs
  • 1 full-time phlebotomy certified laboratory technician (who has also just completed LVN program and is NCLEX eligible)
  • 1 full-time site director who also assists in coordinating trials whenever needed and one assistant clinical supervisor that does the same
  • 1 full-time Principal Investigator and 1 part-time Sub-Investigator
  • 1 designated rater
  • 1 designated Intake and Advertising Coordinator
  • Recruitment/Retention Team
  • 1 designated Regulatory Assistant
  • Centralized Contracts/Budgets dept.
  • Centralized Business Development

  • Bipolar D/O (Inpatient/Outpatient, Manic/Depressed)
  • Major Depressive Disorder
  • Alzheimer’s/MCI
  • ADHD both Adult and Pediatric
  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder
  • Insomnia (both Adult and Geriatric)
  • Migraine
  • Pathological gambling
  • Pain (Lower Back Pain, Carpul Tunnel, etc…)
  • Panic Disorder
  • PTSD

Recruitment and Retention:

  • Designated CNS Recruitment and Retention Team
  • Members of this team provide retention visits between scheduled study visits to ensure patient compliance with protocol
  • They conduct frequent and numerous “recruitment” and lunch/learn visits to community physicians in their recruitment efforts
  • Transportation provided for subjects to/from their study visits.
  • Investigators get out into the community and provide free lectures related to the CNS research field and diagnoses.
